Fowl
Spring to fall is the season for hunting wild birds. The Polar Inuit hunt dovekie (Alle alle), eider, ptarmigan, thick-billed murre (BrĂ¼nnich's Guillemot or Uria lomvia), and a variety of sea gulls. Additionally, kittiwake and grouse are hunted on the east coast. Sometimes wild eggs are gathered by hunters.

Famous quotes containing the word fowl:
“As a natural process, of the same character as the development of a tree from its seed, or of a fowl from its egg, evolution excludes creation and all other kinds of supernatural intervention.”
—Thomas Henry Huxley (182595)
“I am monarch of all I survey;
My right there is none to dispute;
From the center all round to the sea
I am lord of the fowl and the brute.
O Solitude! where are the charms
That sages have seen in thy face?
Better dwell in the midst of alarms,
Than reign in this horrible place.”
—William Cowper (17311800)
“Who first seducd them to that fowl revolt?
Th infernal Serpent; he it was, whose guile
Stird up with Envy and Revenge, deceivd
The Mother of Mankinde, what time his Pride
Had cast him out from Heavn, with all his Host
Of Rebel Angels,”
—John Milton (16081674)
