Social Perceptions of The Green Line

According to Hebrew University Geographer Ilan Salomon, the Green Line can be discerned via satellite, marked by the Jewish National Fund pine forests planted to demarcate Israeli space. Salomon and Larissa Fleishman conducted a study regarding Israeli students' knowledge of the location of the Green Line and found that not much more than 1/3 could identify its placement; they furthermore found that "students who identify with left-leaning parties are more familiar with the location of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, can sketch them more accurately and are also more aware of the nature of borders."

Famous quotes containing the words social, perceptions, green and/or line:

There is no morality by instinct.... There is no social salvation—in the end—without taking thought; without mastery of logic and application of logic to human experience.
    Katharine Fullerton Gerould (1879–1944)

We can conceive a thinking being to have either many or few perceptions. Suppose the mind to be reduced even below the life of an oyster. Suppose it to have only one perception, as of thirst or hunger. Consider it in that situation. Do you conceive any thing but merely that perception? Have you any notion of self or substance? If not, the addition of other perceptions can never give you that notion.
    David Hume (1711–1776)

May they turn sour. May many mean things
happen upon them, no shepherds, no dogs,
a blight of the skin, a mange of the wool,
and they will die eating foreign money,
    choking on its green alphabet.
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)

Andrews: You married him only because I told you not to.
Ellie: You’ve been telling me what not to do ever since I can remember.
Andrews: That’s because you’ve always been a stubborn idiot.
Ellie: I come from a long line of stubborn idiots.
    Robert Riskin (1897–1955)
