It is bounded as follows:

  • anterolaterally by the greater sciatic notch of the illium
  • posteromedially by the sacrotuberous ligament
  • inferiorly by the sacrospinous ligament and the ischial spine
  • superiorly by the anterior sacroilliac ligament
