Famous quotes containing the words grateful and/or dead:
“We are hardly ever grateful for a fine clock or watch when it goes right, and we pay attention to it only when it falters, for then we are caught by surprise. It ought to be the other way about.”
—Philip Dormer Stanhope, 4th Earl Chesterfield (16941773)
“Imperious Caesar, dead and turned to clay,
Might stop a hole to keep the wind away.
O that that earth which kept the world in awe
Should patch a wall texpel the winters flaw!”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
