German Formula One Drivers - World Champions and Race Winners

World Champions and Race Winners

Since the first season in 1950 Germany has produced two F1 World Drivers' Champions. The first title did not come until 1994 when Michael Schumacher claimed his first of seven championship victories. Sebastian Vettel is the second German drivers' champion, winning back-to-back titles in 2010, 2011, and 2012. There have been seven race winners from Germany, with Michael Schumacher having by far the most victories. Vettel has 26 wins to date. Ralf Schumacher won six grand prix and Heinz-Harald Frentzen won three. Wolfgang von Trips, who became the first German driver to win a grand prix, won two races both of which were in 1961. Nico Rosberg and Jochen Mass have both won one race each.

Famous quotes containing the words world, champions, race and/or winners:

The world is forever babbling of originality; but there never yet was an original man, in the sense intended by the world; the first man himself—who according to the Rabbins was also the first author—not being an original; the only original author being God.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)

While the Governor, and the Mayor, and countless officers of the Commonwealth are at large, the champions of liberty are imprisoned.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

I’ve always wondered why European politicians as a group seemed brighter than American politicians as a group. Maybe it’s because many American politicians have the race issue to fall back on. They become lazy, suspicious of innovative ideas, and as a result American institutions atrophy.
    Ishmael Reed (b. 1938)

The two real political parties in America are the Winners and the Losers. The people don’t acknowledge this. They claim membership in two imaginary parties, the Republicans and the Democrats, instead.
    Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. (b. 1922)
