Work Experience

Shinn worked in a textile mill, a car wash and as a school janitor. Famous quotes containing the words work and/or experience:

I don’t pity any man who does hard work worth doing. I admire him. I pity the creature who does not work, at whichever end of the social scale he may regard himself as being.
    Theodore Roosevelt (1858–1919)

Teaching Black Studies, I find that students are quick to label a black person who has grown up in a predominantly white setting and attended similar schools as “not black enough.” ...Our concept of black experience has been too narrow and constricting.
    bell hooks (b. c. 1955)
