Ganging

Ganging is two or more electrical controls mounted side by side in a series of connected wallboxes. A single socket or light switch pattress is called 1 gang, a double pattress (for two fixtures, e.g. two sockets) is called 2 gang, and so forth. The terms 1 gang/2 gang/etc. are also used with power strips.
