  • Dark Palace (2000) won the Miles Franklin Award.
  • Grand Days (1994) won the Adelaide Festival National Prize for Fiction
  • Forty-Seventeen (1988) which won The Age Book of the Year Award and the Australian Literature Society's Gold Medal.
  • The Electrical Experience (1975) won the National Award for Fiction.
