Francine Pascal - Personal Life

Personal Life

John and Francine Pascal lived in Manhattan with Francine's three daughters from her first marriage: Jamie, Laurie, and Susan. (John had a son from his first marriage, Matthew, who lived with his mother.) After John died, Francine and her daughters remained in Manhattan, and Francine has often said that much of the inspiration for her young adult novels came from watching her own three daughters grow up.

On February 22, 2008, Francine's oldest daughter Jamie died after a two-year battle with liver disease.

Francine now divides her time between homes in New York and the south of France. She maintains a rigorous professional schedule, but spends as much time as she can with her children and grandchildren. Since John died, she has never remarried. Her daughter Susan now lives in Shanghai, with her daughter Nicole.

Famous quotes containing the words personal and/or life:

    Perspective, as its inventor remarked, is a beautiful thing. What horrors of damp huts, where human beings languish, may not become picturesque through aerial distance! What hymning of cancerous vices may we not languish over as sublimest art in the safe remoteness of a strange language and artificial phrase! Yet we keep a repugnance to rheumatism and other painful effects when presented in our personal experience.
    George Eliot [Mary Ann (or Marian)

    I wage not any feud with Death
    For changes wrought on form and face;
    No lower life that earth’s embrace
    May breed with him can fright my faith.
    Alfred Tennyson (1809–1892)
