Football In Wales

Association football in Wales is governed by the Football Association of Wales (FAW), which was established in 1876. The FAW oversees the Wales national football team and the Welsh football league system. Popularity and attendances for club matches varies across the country, with the largest cities/towns such as Cardiff, Swansea, Newport and Wrexham having the largest followings.

In May 2012 the FAW, Scottish Football Association and the Football Association of Ireland formally declared an interest in co-hosting UEFA Euro 2020.

Famous quotes containing the words football and/or wales:

People stress the violence. That’s the smallest part of it. Football is brutal only from a distance. In the middle of it there’s a calm, a tranquility. The players accept pain. There’s a sense of order even at the end of a running play with bodies stewn everywhere. When the systems interlock, there’s a satisfaction to the game that can’t be duplicated. There’s a harmony.
    Don Delillo (b. 1926)

I just come and talk to the plants, really—very important to talk to them, they respond I find.
Charles, Prince Of Wales (b. 1948)
