FK Berane is among most successful football clubs from northern Montenegro. Before the World War II, Berane played friendly games against clubs from northern region of Montenegro, but they played few seasons in highest football competitions of Montenegro at that time. At 1948, FK Berane, under the name "Ika Ivangrad", made historic debut in Montenegrin Republic League (Crnogorska republička liga - 3rd Yugoslav league). During the past decades, under the name FK Ivangrad (former name of Berane city), club played in Second league of Yugoslavia, too. After Montenegrin independence, Berane made their historic debut in First league at the season 2006/07, but they were relegated in Second league (2007/08.). After one season in lower competition, club from Berane was promoted to the First league, but, like in 2007, Berane were relegated. In June 2012, after one another season in First league and play-off against FK Mornar, Berane was relegated in the Montenegrin Second League.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

No one can understand Paris and its history who does not understand that its fierceness is the balance and justification of its frivolity. It is called a city of pleasure; but it may also very specially be called a city of pain. The crown of roses is also a crown of thorns. Its people are too prone to hurt others, but quite ready also to hurt themselves. They are martyrs for religion, they are martyrs for irreligion; they are even martyrs for immorality.
    Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874–1936)

If you look at history you’ll find that no state has been so plagued by its rulers as when power has fallen into the hands of some dabbler in philosophy or literary addict.
    Desiderius Erasmus (c. 1466–1536)

The history of his present majesty, is a history of unremitting injuries and usurpations ... all of which have in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny over these states. To prove this, let facts be submitted to a candid world, for the truth of which we pledge a faith yet unsullied by falsehood.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)
