Fifth-week Event
A fifth week event is a novelty comic book promotion.
Comic publishers schedule releases in four-week cycles, releasing on a particular day of the week (e.g., every Wednesday). On an occasion that a month has more than four weeks (i.e., a fifth Wednesday), publishers often sell unusual comics to fill in the scheduling gap.
The fifth week event has been discontinued since longer crossovers, such as Blackest Night, run for months at a time, requiring more tie-ins and fewer simultaneous crossovers.
Famous quotes containing the word event:
“It is known that Whistler when asked how long it took him to paint one of his nocturnes answered: All of my life. With the same rigor he could have said that all of the centuries that preceded the moment when he painted were necessary. From that correct application of the law of causality it follows that the slightest event presupposes the inconceivable universe and, conversely, that the universe needs even the slightest of events.”
