- In DC comics Merlin has made several appearances. In the Trials of Shazam Merlin (DC Comics) is a half-demon villain whose daughter Sabina tries to take the power of Shazam, but she is drawn into a portal and killed when Freddy Freeman is given the power of Zeus.
- In Marvel Comics Merlin (Marvel Comics) has also appeared. He is an otherdimensional being who gave Captain Britain his powers and led the multiversal Captain Britain Corps. A long-lived mutant with vast telekinetic powers has impersonated Merlin, and once battled Thor.
