History
The term "evolutionary astrology" was first used by Raymond Merriman in his book titled Evolutionary Astrology: The Journey of the Soul Through the Horoscope, published in 1977 by Seek-It Publications of West Bloomfield, Michigan. In 1991, a second edition of this book was published, titled Evolutionary Astrology: The Journey of the Soul Through States of Consciousness, also published by Seek-It Publications.
The term later became more popularized with the work of Jeffrey Green who began public lecturing on The Evolutionary Journey of The Soul in 1977. He wrote Pluto, Evolutionary Journey of the Soul,Volume 1" in 1985) and "Pluto, Volume 2, the Soul's Evolution through Relationships in 1997 and Uranus, Freedom from the Known in 1987. Green has lectured around the world and his books have been translated in many, many languages as his work spread everywhere. He established schools on evolutionary astrology in Holland, England, Israel, Chile, Canada, and Germany. In addition he started his own video/dvd course on evolutionary astrology in 1994. His daughter, Deva, has written her own book on evolutionary astrology. In the summer of 2011 a new book that she has edited on her father's work will come out that is called The Evolutionary Journey Of The Soul: Essays in Evolutionary Astrology. Green's first book has remained in continuous print since 1985. Jeffrey Green also collaborated on two books with Steven Forrest, Measuring the Night, Volumes One and Two (2000, 2001). Steven Forrest, and then Maurice Fernandez (an initial student of Jeffrey Green) have developed their own schools of thought and teach their own methodologies within Evolutionary Astrology. Jeffrey's students have also written their own books in Evolutionary Astrology. Patricia Walsh: Understanding Karmic Complexes: Evolutionary Astrology And Regression Therapy, Rose Marcus: Insights Into Evolutionary Astrology in which various students have all written different chapters on various topics in EA, Deva Green: Evolutionary Astrology: Pluto and Your Karmic Mission, and Mark Jones: Healing the Soul- Pluto, Uranus and the Lunar Nodes.
