Euro Beach Soccer League

The Euro Beach Soccer League (Euro BS League or EBSL) is an annual European competition in beach soccer. Started in 1998 as the European Pro Beach Soccer League, the competitions allow national teams to compete in beach soccer in a league format over the summer months. Each season ends with a superfinal in Marseille deciding the competition winner. In 2006 and 2007, the five top teams of this superfinal qualified for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup later that year. Spain is the most successful nation, winning the league five times.

Famous quotes containing the words beach, soccer and/or league:

A young person is a person with nothing to learn
One who already knows that ice does not chill and fire does not burn . . .
It knows it can spend six hours in the sun on its first
day at the beach without ending up a skinless beet,
And it knows it can walk barefoot through the barn
without running a nail in its feet. . . .
    Meanwhile psychologists grow rich
Writing that the young are ones’ should not
    undermine the self-confidence of which.
    Ogden Nash (1902–1971)

    We want beans, not goals.
—Mexican steelworkers’ banner at opening ceremony of 1986 World Cup soccer championship.

Half a league, half a league,
    Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
    Rode the six hundred.
    “Forward the Light Brigade!
    Alfred Tennyson (1809–1892)
