Research

As part of USC's robust research community, the USC Ethel Percy Andrus Gerontology Center is one of the world's leaders in aging research. As the nation's first multidisciplinary research center devoted to human development and aging, the primary goal of the center is to provide scientific information about the processes of aging and to understand how that information can be applied to individuals, families, organizations and society.

Current research includes many diverse projects, such as the USC/UCLA Center on Biodemography and Population Health (CBPH), California Center for Long Term Care Integration and the Long Beach Longitudinal Study (LBLS).

Famous quotes containing the word research:

To be sure, nothing is more important to the integrity of the universities ... than a rigorously enforced divorce from war- oriented research and all connected enterprises.
    Hannah Arendt (1906–1975)

The research on gender and morality shows that women and men looked at the world through very different moral frameworks. Men tend to think in terms of “justice” or absolute “right and wrong,” while women define morality through the filter of how relationships will be affected. Given these basic differences, why would men and women suddenly agree about disciplining children?
    Ron Taffel (20th century)

Feeling that you have to be the perfect parent places a tremendous and completely unnecessary burden on you. If we’ve learned anything from the past half-century’s research on child development, it’s that children are remarkably resilient. You can make lots of mistakes and still wind up with great kids.
    Lawrence Kutner (20th century)
