Names
In traditional Chinese astronomy, Eta Carinae has the names Tseen She (from the Chinese 天社 "Heaven's altar") and Foramen. It is also known as 海山二 (Hǎi Shān èr, English: the Second Star of Sea and Mountain), referring to Sea and Mountain, an asterism that Eta Carinae forms with s Carinae, λ Centauri and λ Muscae.
The indigenous Boorong people of northwestern Victoria, Australia saw it as Collowgullouric War, the wife of War (Canopus).

Famous quotes containing the word names:
“No, no! I dont, I dont want to know your name. You dont have a name, and I dont have a name, either. No names here. Not one name.”
—Bernardo Bertolucci (b. 1940)
“All nationalisms are at heart deeply concerned with names: with the most immaterial and original human invention. Those who dismiss names as a detail have never been displaced; but the peoples on the peripheries are always being displaced. That is why they insist upon their continuitytheir links with their dead and the unborn.”
—John Berger (b. 1926)
“I come to this land to ride my horse,
to try my own guitar, to copy out
their two separate names like sunflowers, to conjure
up my daily bread, to endure,
somehow to endure.”
—Anne Sexton (19281974)
