Encore (TV Channel)
Encore is an American premium television channel featuring mainly older and recent blockbuster motion pictures. It is owned by Liberty Starz, a subsidiary and joint venture of Liberty Media, which owns 75% and The Weinstein Company, which owns 25%. The headquarters of Encore and its sister channels Starz and MoviePlex are located on the Meridian International Business Center complex in Meridian, Colorado.
As of June 2012, Encore's programming is available to 33.6 million subscribers in the United States, which is outpacing HBO's subscriber base of 29 million subscribers (as of January 2012), due to digital cable, IPTV and satellite providers that either sell the Starz and Encore multiplexes together in a single package or sell the two networks as separate offerings; as such, satellite providers and some cable operators will sell Encore to non-Starz subscribers.
