Emergency Room (art) - Artists

Artists

Emergency Room deliberately chooses to mix evidently different aesthetics; for instance cross-media artists with abstract painters or sculptors. Founder, Thierry Geoffroy, describes the Emergency Room as a format where artists can ”train their awareness muscle” and allows them to work in an environment where experimentation and artistic daring is welcomed. Artists evolve and develop new unexpected methods and art forms often resulting in significant changes in the praxis of participants and thereby in the aesthetics of the emergency art as such.

Famous quotes containing the word artists:

In dealings with scholars and artists we are apt to miscalculate in opposite directions: behind a remarkable scholar we sometimes, and not infrequently, find a mediocre man, and behind a mediocre artist, fairly often—a very remarkable man.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

The chess pieces are the block alphabet which shapes thoughts; and these thoughts, although making a visual design on the chess-board, express their beauty abstractly, like a poem.... I have come to the personal conclusion that while all artists are not chess players, all chess players are artists.
    Marcel Duchamp (1887–1968)

... artists were intended to be an ornament to society. As a society in themselves they are unthinkable.
    Elizabeth Bowen (1899–1973)
