An electronic state is a quantum state of a system of electrons (usually orbitals or chemical bonds in crystals or molecules). The state with the lowest energy is called the ground state, while the states with a higher energy are excited states, and any unbound states are called repulsive states.
Famous quotes containing the words electronic and/or state:
“The new electronic interdependence recreates the world in the image of a global village.”
—Marshall McLuhan (19111980)
“In the most high and palmy state of Rome,
A little ere the mightiest Julius fell,
The graves stood tenantless and the sheeted dead
Did squeak and gibber in the Roman streets.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
