Many schools have nurses either full-time or part-time to administer to students and to ensure that medication is taken as directed by their physician.
For some high school grades and many elementary schools as well, a police officer, titled a "resource officer", or SRO (Security Resource Officer), is on site to screen students for firearms and to help avoid disruptions.
