Eddie Hinton - Personal Life

Personal Life

Eddie was born to Deanie McGee Hinton Perkins and Horton Hinton and grew up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where he formed a band, The Five Minutes who received local fame quickly. He was the grandson of a preacher and used the gospel influences in his music to tell his stories of pain and redemption. Former record giant, Jerry Wexler, heard Eddie while he was doing session work in Muscle Shoals and called Hinton, "the next big thing", unfortunately, Hinton's battles with mental illness, drug and alcohol addiction prevented that from happening.

He died at home with his mother, Deanie Perkins and step-father, Paul Perkins in Birmingham, Alabama from a heart attack at age 51.

Famous quotes related to personal life:

Wherever the State touches the personal life of the infant, the child, the youth, or the aged, helpless, defective in mind, body or moral nature, there the State enters ‘woman’s peculiar sphere,’ her sphere of motherly succor and training, her sphere of sympathetic and self-sacrificing ministration to individual lives.
    Anna Garlin Spencer (1851–1931)
