Economic Development Corporation

An economic development corporation is an organization common in the United States, usually a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission is to promote economic development within a specific geographical area. These organizations are similar, and complementary, to Chambers of Commerce.

Famous quotes containing the words economic, development and/or corporation:

The reality is that zero defects in products plus zero pollution plus zero risk on the job is equivalent to maximum growth of government plus zero economic growth plus runaway inflation.
    Dixie Lee Ray (b. 1924)

The proper aim of education is to promote significant learning. Significant learning entails development. Development means successively asking broader and deeper questions of the relationship between oneself and the world. This is as true for first graders as graduate students, for fledging artists as graying accountants.
    Laurent A. Daloz (20th century)

It is truly enough said that a corporation has no conscience; but a corporation of conscientious men is a corporation with a conscience.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
