Special Privileges
E.O. Smith currently has in effect a privilege system. Through academic achievement, students gain privileges, namely choice of study hall area for sophomores and juniors, and Open Campus for seniors. A senior that has earned this privilege is allowed to come to school for class and leave when those classes are finished. Seniors are not required to stay on the school grounds for the entire day.

Famous quotes containing the words special and/or privileges:
“The line that I am urging as todays conventional wisdom is not a denial of consciousness. It is often called, with more reason, a repudiation of mind. It is indeed a repudiation of mind as a second substance, over and above body. It can be described less harshly as an identification of mind with some of the faculties, states, and activities of the body. Mental states and events are a special subclass of the states and events of the human or animal body.”
—Willard Van Orman Quine (b. 1908)
“One of the duties which devolve upon women in the present interesting crisis, is to prepare themselves for more extensive usefulness, by making use of those religious and literary privileges and advantages that are within their reach, if they will only stretch out their hands and possess them.”
—Sarah M. Grimke (17921873)
