Conditions For Dust Explosion
The requirements for a dust explosion are often called the explosion pentagon. The five main components of the dust explosion consist of the following:
- A combustible dust or a hybrid mixture
- Oxidant (typically atmospheric oxygen or other oxidants such as fluorine, chlorine and bromine)
- Ignition source
- Dispersion/suspension (at a high concentration)
- Confinement of dust cloud (or hybrid mixture cloud)
