Duggirala

Duggirala is a village and mandal located in Guntur district. Duggirala station 16°19′41″N 80°37′27″E / 16.32805°N 80.62429°E / 16.32805; 80.62429 is located on the Howrah-Chennai mainline. It is famous for its Turmeric Market. Turmeric is a primary cash crop grown by farmers around this region. The factory here has contributed to the wealth of several farmers in this region.

CCL Products India Ltd. has a major freeze-dried coffee manufacturing plant at Duggirala with a capacity of 1500 tonnes. The factory exports most of its produce to international markets.

Freedom Fighter Sri Venigalla Satyanarayana Rao who served as a minister and also MP is from Duggirala.

Dr.Jampala Ramakrishnaiah M.B.B.S. participated in the second world war as captain in the ARMY for Seven years and later practiced in the village.

Dr.Koritala Jaya Rama Mohana Rao M.B.B.S, Who established the first private school and nursing home in Duggirala village from 1981 to till date and dedicated his services to the poor people in the village.

Buckingham Canal (locally called as pedha kaluva) a tributary of river Krishna connecting Vijayawada and Chennai was used for navigational purposes, passes by Duggirala.

Zilla Parishad High School for Boys was started in the year 1912. Also has a ZP High School for Girls. Film personalities Mr Kongara Jaggaiah and Ms Jamuna are associated with these schools the former as Social Studies teacher in ZPBHS the latter as the student of the ZPGHS. Turmeric is grown in the area. Jampala Sambayya a great philanthropist is from Duggirala. Kamma hostel in Guntur is named after him. Other prominent persons from this village are Parvataneni Sambaiah who is one of the founders of Brahmayya &Co, Jampala Lakshmineedu Prasad famous Head Master are also from this village.Village is known for highest standards in education. Recently new buildings are constructed for ZP boys high school at a cost 70 Lakhs with handsome donation from Nimmagadda Foundation.

Asia's biggest turmeric yard is located in Duggirala.
