Dufferin Mall - History

History

The location was previously occupied by the Dufferin Racetrack, a horse race track which operated from 1907 until 1955. The first shopping plaza on the site was established in 1956 and was named Dufferin Plaza Shopping Centre. The shopping plaza was converted to enclosed mall space and renamed Dufferin Mall in the 1970s. In the 2000s, the mall underwent an interior facelift.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

    As I am, so shall I associate, and so shall I act; Caesar’s history will paint out Caesar.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

    The history of progress is written in the blood of men and women who have dared to espouse an unpopular cause, as, for instance, the black man’s right to his body, or woman’s right to her soul.
    Emma Goldman (1869–1940)

    You that would judge me do not judge alone
    This book or that, come to this hallowed place
    Where my friends’ portraits hang and look thereon;
    Ireland’s history in their lineaments trace;
    Think where man’s glory most begins and ends
    And say my glory was I had such friends.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)
