Dreddup - Musical Style

Musical Style

Music of dreDDup is a mixture of dark noisy sounds with rough industrial rhythm followed by metallic vocals. They are mostly influenced by post industrial music scene of the 1980s and the mid 1990s. They have changed their sound since 1997 but were always within the industrial/post-industrial boundaries. After experimenting with weird noises and rough drum beats they embraced commercial segments in their sound, making it more popular for some wider range of listeners. As their influences they list Borghesia, Bile, The Prodigy, The Stooges and Kim Wilde. Today, they sound like a crossover of every genre they get in touch with.

Dating from World War I—when it was used by U.S. soldiers—or before, the saying was associated with nightclub hostess Texas Quinan in the 1920s. It was the title of a song recorded by Sophie Tucker in 1927, and of a Cole Porter musical in 1929.
