Dorothea Dix - Honors

Honors

Dix was elected President for Life of the Army Nurses' Association (a social club for Civil War Volunteer Nurses), but had little to do with the organization. She even opposed its efforts to get military pensions for its members.

In 1983 the United States Postal Service honored her life of charity and service by issuing a 1ยข Dorothea Dix Great Americans series postage stamp.
