Diocesan Structure
The diocese of Chelmsford is overseen by the Bishop of Chelmsford. It divided into three episcopal areas which are overseen by an Area Bishop. The diocese is divided further into archdeaconries, each divided into a number of deaneries.
As part of Stephen Cottrell's vision for the diocese's long-term future, consultations have begun on proposals to create three new archdeaconries. A new Archdeaconry of Stansted would be created from Colchester archdeaconry, a new Archdeaconry of Barking from West Ham archdeaconry, the current Southend archdeaconry would be renamed the Archdeaconry of Chelmsford and a new Archdeaconry of Southend would then be created.

Famous quotes containing the word structure:
“There is no such thing as a language, not if a language is anything like what many philosophers and linguists have supposed. There is therefore no such thing to be learned, mastered, or born with. We must give up the idea of a clearly defined shared structure which language-users acquire and then apply to cases.”
—Donald Davidson (b. 1917)
