Devonshire Mall

Devonshire Mall is a shopping center located in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The mall has Zellers, The Bay, Sears, and other stores, totaling over 200. The mall currently occupies over 1 million square feet (90,000 m²) in retail space, and it dominates the retail landscape in Windsor and the lower southern expanse of Ontario. The mall originally had just 70 stores, but has had five expansions: in 1974, 1985, 1987, 1995, and 2000. The mall was also slightly damaged during the Windsor Tornado of 1973, but was completely repaired.

Devonshire Mall is located southeast of the interchange of E.C. Row Expressway and Howard Avenue, and across Howard Avenue from the Roundhouse Center shopping plaza (formerly a roundhouse and turnabout/train station until the 1920s). The address for the mall is 3100 Howard Avenue.

The mall is currently owned and operated by Ivanhoe Cambridge, and displays the names of the streets its main hallways exit to ("Howard Street", for example). It also has plaques at its entrances telling of its date of opening, and contributors to its construction and opening.

Famous quotes containing the words devonshire and/or mall:

They call them the haunted shores, these stretches of Devonshire and Cornwall and Ireland which rear up against the westward ocean. Mists gather here, and sea fog, and eerie stories. That’s not because there are more ghosts here than in other places, mind you. It’s just that people who live hereabouts are strangely aware of them.
Dodie Smith, and Lewis Allen. Roderick Fitzgerald (Ray Milland)

Finishing schools in the fifties were a good place to store girls for a few years before marrying them off, a satisfactory rest stop between college weekends spent husband hunting. It was a haven for those of us adept at styling each other’s hair, playing canasta, and chain smoking Pall Mall extra-long cigarettes.
    Barbara Howar (b. 1934)
