The Nasadiya Sukta of the oldest Hindu text Rigveda states that no one knows when creation has arisen. The Puranic texts state belief in a Cyclic Universe consisting of endless cycles of the Universe expanding, contracting and subsequently reforming. According to one interpretation of Puranic Hinduism, the world is believed to have been created 158.7 trillion years ago (50 "years of Brahma").
