Criminal Charge - Prosecution

Prosecution

Many people avoid criminal charges by staying out of the state where they committed the crime. A person facing criminal charges is always prosecuted in the state where they committed the charges. A person may be able to get away with minor violations like a ticket, but they will not be able to hide from something like a misdemeanor or a felony. There are about sixty criminal charges that are considered more serious that people face every day. These charges can range from less serious actions like shoplifting or vandalism; all the way to murder.

Famous quotes containing the word prosecution:

The prosecution of [Warren] Hastings, though he should escape at last, must have good effect. It will alarm the servants of the Company in India, that they may not always plunder with impunity, but that there may be a retrospect; and it will show them that even bribes of diamonds to the Crown may not secure them from prosecution.
    Horace Walpole (1717–1797)
