Famous quotes containing the words people, republic and/or china:

What is a life or two, Guy! Some people are better off dead. Like your wife and my father, for instance.
    Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)

    Stendhal [Marie Henri Beyle] (1783–1842)

Whether the nymph shall break Diana’s law,
Or some frail china jarreceive a flaw,
Or stain her honour, or her new brocade,
    Alexander Pope (1688–1744)
