Consumer Focus
The National Consumer Council, operating as Consumer Futures, is a non-departmental public body and statutory consumer organisation in England, Wales, Scotland, and, for postal services, Northern Ireland. It was established by the Consumers, Estate Agents and Redress Act 2007, and began operations in 2008 by the merging Postwatch, Energywatch and the Welsh, Scottish and National Consumer Councils under the Consumer Focus brand.
Following the UK Government's 2010 Spending Review, Consumer Focus was replaced by Consumer Futures in May 2013. Consumer Futures is funded by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and is due to be transferred to the Citizens Advice Bureau service in April 2014.

Famous quotes containing the words consumer and/or focus:
“The poverty of our century is unlike that of any other. It is not, as poverty was before, the result of natural scarcity, but of a set of priorities imposed upon the rest of the world by the rich. Consequently, the modern poor are not pitied ... but written off as trash. The twentieth-century consumer economy has produced the first culture for which a beggar is a reminder of nothing.”
—John Berger (b. 1926)
“Why is it so difficultso degradingly difficultto bring the notion of Time into mental focus and keep it there for inspection? What an effort, what fumbling, what irritating fatigue!”
—Vladimir Nabokov (18991977)
