Conflict in The Niger Delta - Royal Dutch Shell Controversy

Royal Dutch Shell Controversy

Friends of the Earth Netherlands (Milieudefensie) and Amnesty International have launched international campaigns aiming at having Shell clean the oil spills in the Delta. The organisations are concerned about the economic and health consequences for the people in the region. Famous quotes containing the words royal, dutch, shell and/or controversy:

Bohemia is nothing more than the little country in which you do not live. If you try to obtain citizenship in it, at once the court and retinue pack the royal archives and treasure and move away beyond the hills.
    O. Henry [William Sydney Porter] (1862–1910)

    Too nice is neighbor’s fool.
—Common Dutch saying, trans by Johanna C. Prins.

Billy: You dropped some shell in there.
Ted: It’s all right. Makes it crunchier that way. You like French toast crunchy, don’t you?
    Robert Benton (b. 1932)

And therefore, as when there is a controversy in an account, the parties must by their own accord, set up for right Reason, the Reason of some Arbitrator, or Judge, to whose sentence, they will both stand, or their controversy must either come to blows, or be undecided, for want of a right Reason constituted by Nature; so is it also in all debates of what kind soever.
    Thomas Hobbes (1579–1688)
