Commercial Zone - Musical Style

Musical Style

Commercial Zone is more accessible and commercial than PiL's previous records, with some laid-back Velvet Underground-style guitar on a few tracks. Tracks like "Mad Max" and "Solitaire" have funk elements, while especially the B-side of the record has a moody soundtrack atmosphere.

Famous quotes containing the words musical and/or style:

Fifty million Frenchmen can’t be wrong.
    —Anonymous. Popular saying.

Dating from World War I—when it was used by U.S. soldiers—or before, the saying was associated with nightclub hostess Texas Quinan in the 1920s. It was the title of a song recorded by Sophie Tucker in 1927, and of a Cole Porter musical in 1929.

The old saying of Buffon’s that style is the man himself is as near the truth as we can get—but then most men mistake grammar for style, as they mistake correct spelling for words or schooling for education.
    Samuel Butler (1835–1902)
