Fat

A fat client, also known as a rich client or thick client, is a client that performs the bulk of any data processing operations itself, and does not necessarily rely on the server. The fat client is most common in the form of a personal computer, as the personal computers or laptops can operate independently.

Programming languages and/or development tools for rich clients typically include Delphi, .NET Framework, Java and Visual Studio.

Famous quotes containing the word fat:

From this fat dungeon I could rise to skin
And human title, putting pig within.
    Thom Gunn (b. 1929)

Always be on time. Never try to make any personal engagements. Do as little talking as humanly possible. Never be disturbed by anything. Always do what you’re told to do as quickly as possible. Remember to lean back in a parade, so that people can see your husband. Don’t get too fat to ride three on a seat. Get out of the way as quickly as you’re not needed.
    Eleanor Roosevelt (1884–1962)

Please God, we’re all right here. Please leave us alone.
Don’t send death in his fat red suit and his ho-ho baritone.
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)
