Famous quotes containing the words city, circle and/or line:
“This city is neither a jungle nor the moon.... In long shot: a cosmic smudge, a conglomerate of bleeding energies. Close up, it is a fairly legible printed circuit, a transistorized labyrinth of beastly tracks, a data bank for asthmatic voice-prints.”
—Susan Sontag (b. 1933)
“And year by year our memory fades
From all the circle of the hills.”
—Alfred Tennyson (1809–1892)
“It may be the more
That no line of her writing have I,
Nor a thread of her hair,
No mark of her late time as dame in her dwelling, whereby
I may picture her there.”
—Thomas Hardy (1840–1928)
