Chinese Mythology - Creation and The Pantheon

Creation and The Pantheon

Chinese mythology holds that the Jade Emperor was charged with running of the three realms: heaven, hell, and the realm of the living. The Jade Emperor adjudicated and meted out rewards and remedies to saints, the living, and the deceased according to a merit system loosely called the Jade Principles Golden Script (玉律金篇, Yù lǜ jīn piān). When proposed judgments were objected to, usually by other saints, the administration would occasionally resort to the counsels of advisory elders.

Famous quotes containing the words creation and/or pantheon:

The very austerity of the Brahmans is tempting to the devotional soul, as a more refined and nobler luxury. Wants so easily and gracefully satisfied seem like a more refined pleasure. Their conception of creation is peaceful as a dream.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Revolution calls my name. I will soon dwell in nothingness, and my name will be in the Pantheon of history.
    Georg Büchner (1813–1837)
