Change Congress - Pledge

Pledge

Citizens are able to get a badge that customizes which Change Congress causes they support. They are then given code so that they can place their pledge on their own website. Candidates are given the same choice. Change Congress' website mentions plans to compile an ongoing list of citizens and candidates, and which cause(s) they support.

As of January 9, 2009 the citizen and candidate pledge pages and tags are inoperable and no longer exist on the Change Congress website. There has been no indication made by Change Congress as to if or when the pledges will be supported again.

Famous quotes containing the word pledge:

I am heartily tired of this life of bondage, responsibility, and toil. I wish it was at an end.... We are both physically very healthy.... Our tempers are cheerful. We are social and popular. But it is one of our greatest comforts that the pledge not to take a second term relieves us from considering it. That was a lucky thing. It is a reform—or rather a precedent for a reform, which will be valuable.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)

Taking the pledge will not make bad liquor good, but it will improve it.
Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (1835–1910)

Resolved, There can never be a true peace in this Republic until the civil and political rights of all citizens of African descent and all women are practically established. Resolved, that the women of the Revolution were not wanting in heroism and self-sacrifice, and we, their daughters, are ready, in this War, to pledge our time, our means, our talents, and our lives, if need be, to secure the final and complete consecration of America to freedom.
Woman’s Loyal League (founded May 1861)
