Cerro Cora National Park

Cerro Cora National Park is the biggest protected area in Paraguay. It is located in Amambay Region, close to the border with Brazil. It was established by a decree on February 11, 1976. It is a Natural Reservation, as well as an historical and cultural center. This place was the setting where last battle of Paraguayan War took place, on March 1, 1870.

The park has historical monuments, a recreation area and beaches at the Aquidaban River side.

Besides the interesting historical background, many visitors come to the Park in order to appreciate ancient rock paintings in the hill caves.

Famous quotes containing the words national and/or park:

It is no part of the functions of the National Government to find employment for the people, and if we were to appropriate a hundred millions for his purpose, we should only be taxing 40 millions of people to keep a few thousand employed.
    James A. Garfield (1831–1881)

The label of liberalism is hardly a sentence to public igominy: otherwise Bruce Springsteen would still be rehabilitating used Cadillacs in Asbury Park and Jane Fonda, for all we know, would be just another overweight housewife.
    Barbara Ehrenreich (b. 1941)
