Batman Massacre
On July 20, 2012, in Aurora, Colorado, during a midnight showing of the movie The Dark Knight Rises, a gunman shot at viewers in Theater 9 at the Century 16 theater, killing 12 people. As of August 2012, the theatre is currently closed and Aurora officials reached out to the public to give their thoughts on the future of the theatre. On September 20, 2012 Cinemark's president Tim Warner said in a letter to the Mayor of Aurora that the Theater in Aurora, Colorado will be renovated, reconfigured and reopened by the end of the year however a specific date for reopening the theater has not been set.
