Cefn Cyfarwydd - Height

Height

There is a trig point (triangulation pillar TP2074) recording a height of 419 m (1375 ft) at location SH7641664273. This can be easily viewed from Ffordd Cowlyd, the lane from Trefriw to Llyn Cowlyd, which crosses Cefn Cyfarwydd towards its northern end.

The trig point is, however, not at the highest point of the ridge. The highest point actually lies some mile to the south-west, where a cairn has been placed at a height of 503 m (1650 ft). This is just a little north of the remains of Lledwigan burial cairn, which probably dates to the Bronze Age.

Famous quotes containing the word height:

The most stupendous scenery ceases to be sublime when it becomes distinct, or in other words limited, and the imagination is no longer encouraged to exaggerate it. The actual height and breadth of a mountain or a waterfall are always ridiculously small; they are the imagined only that content us.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

How frightening it is to have reached the height of human accomplishment in art that must forever borrow from life’s abundance.
    Franz Grillparzer (1791–1872)

Tell me of the height of the mountains of the moon, or of the diameter of space, and I may believe you, but of the secret history of the Almighty, and I shall pronounce thee mad.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
