Captain Brown - Death and Reconstruction

Death and Reconstruction

In "The Mysterons", Captain Brown, partnering Captain Scarlet, is appointed the leader of an operation to protect the World President from assassination at the hands of the extraterrestrials. However, while the captains drive to New York City, the Mysteron influence punctures one of the tyres on the their Spectrum Saloon, causing the vehicle to crash. The Mysterons duplicate the dead men's bodies and task the reconstructions to kill the President.

In New York, the Mysteronised Brown escorts the President to a Maximum Security Building. However, the reconstruction is actually a walking bomb and, once inside the President's office, exudes smoke and explodes. However, the President survives by activating an emergency escape hatch just before the detonation. Later, Scarlet kidnaps the President, but he is killed before inexplicably returning to life with his human consciousness restored.

Brown is a smoker and carries a cigarette case, his nationality is not revealed but he speaks with a refined British accent.

Famous quotes containing the word death:

But the life of Spirit is not the life that shrinks from death and keeps itself untouched by devastation, but rather the life that endures it and maintains itself in it. It wins its truth only when, in utter dismemberment, it finds itself.... Spirit is this power only by looking the negative in the face, and tarrying with it. This tarrying with the negative is the magical power that converts it into being. This power is identical with what we earlier called the Subject.
    Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770–1831)
