Canadian Bankers Association

The Canadian Bankers Association (CBA) is a financial lobbying group that works on behalf of 54 domestic banks, foreign bank subsidiaries and foreign bank branches operating in Canada and their 274,000 employees. The CBA was organized in Montreal in 1891, making it one of Canada’s oldest interest groups.

The CBA works on public policy issues related to the banking system in Canada. The CBA is also a leading source of information and statistics about banks operating in Canada and the country's national banking system, which has been named the world’s soundest by the World Economic Forum for three consecutive years.

The CBA is registered as a lobbying group at both the federal and provincial levels.

The CBA operates out of offices in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal.

...the shiny-cheeked merchant bankers from London with eighties striped blue ties and white collars and double-barreled names and double chins and double-breasted suits, who said “ears” when they meant “yes” and “hice” when they meant “house” and “school” when they meant “Eton”...
    John le Carré (b. 1931)

In this great association we know no North, no South, no East, no West. This has been our pride for all these years. We have no political party. We never have inquired what anybody’s religion is. All we ever have asked is simply, “Do you believe in perfect equality for women?” This is the one article in our creed.
    Susan B. Anthony (1820–1906)
