Mathematical Theory
Queuing theory is a branch of mathematics in which models of queuing systems have been developed. A call centre can be seen as a queuing network. The models can be applied to answer queueing questions for call centres. The most widespread queueing model used is the Erlang C Formula.
Call centre operations have been supported by mathematical models beyond queueing, with operations research, which considers a wide range of optimisation problems.

Famous quotes containing the words mathematical and/or theory:
“An accurate charting of the American womans progress through history might look more like a corkscrew tilted slightly to one side, its loops inching closer to the line of freedom with the passage of timebut like a mathematical curve approaching infinity, never touching its goal. . . . Each time, the spiral turns her back just short of the finish line.”
—Susan Faludi (20th century)
“every subjective phenomenon is essentially connected with a single point of view, and it seems inevitable that an objective, physical theory will abandon that point of view.”
—Thomas Nagel (b. 1938)
