Bus Project - History and Influence

History and Influence

The Bus Project was founded in 2001 by Harvard Law School graduate Jefferson Smith. In the 2004 election, Bus volunteers canvassed numerous voters around the state, which may have contributed to the Oregon State Senate switching from Republican to Democratic control. In the 2006 Oregon elections the Oregon House of Representatives flipped to Democratic control following extensive canvassing by the Bus Project.

Famous quotes containing the words history and/or influence:

It is remarkable how closely the history of the apple tree is connected with that of man.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Important as fathers are, their influence on children shouldn’t be exaggerated just because they were ignored so long. There is no evidence that there is something especially good about fathers as caretakers. There are no areas where it can be said that fathers must do certain things in order to achieve certain outcomes in children. The same goes for mothers.
    Michael Lamb (late–20th century)
