Burford School - Transport

Transport

Burford School is the 2nd most rural school in Oxfordshire. As a result, many of our students use the free transport provided by OCC on contracted school buses for all the villages in the school’s catchment area for children in Years 7-11. Students living outside the catchment area and Year 12 &13 students can travel on these buses if spaces are available, but at a cost of approximately £240 per annum. The Business Manager is responsible for school transport. All services arrive and depart from school via the A361 entrance. Buses drop off and pick up outside the D&T /Art Block at the bottom of school. All services arrive between 0800 and 0820hrs and will depart at 1510hrs. The Integrated Transport Unit (ITU) of Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) is required to maintain comprehensive lists of students travelling on buses. The school holds copies of these lists which can be checked. No student will be allowed to board a bus if they do not hold a valid bus pass for the route that they are allocated to. If a student has good reason to change buses, the ITU should be approached to obtain a new bus pass for that route. In the interim, a temporary pass can be obtained from reception at school. These temporary passes are valid for 2 weeks. Drivers have the authority to turn away any student who fails to produce their bus pass. Parents should note that indiscipline on a bus is a serious breach of school standards of conduct and will result in the student being banned from the bus for a period. The school also insist that all students take responsibility for wearing their seatbelt. A bus driver can stop the coach and return the offending student to school. OCC supports this policy. Damage by students to buses will be followed up by the bus companies and the school and costs will be passed on to parents. In the event of bad weather or failure of the bus to arrive, students waiting for morning buses should wait at least 15 minutes before either ringing school or returning home. Late buses are available on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for students undertaking after school activities. These buses leave at 1645 hrs from the same area as the normal school bus. Students wishing to use the after school bus should obtain a late bus pass from reception before 1330hrs of the day of travel.

Famous quotes containing the word transport:

One may disavow and disclaim vices that surprise us, and whereto our passions transport us; but those which by long habits are rooted in a strong and ... powerful will are not subject to contradiction. Repentance is but a denying of our will, and an opposition of our fantasies.
    Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592)
