Burford School - Punishments

Punishments

Like any other school Burford gives detentions at lunchtimes for a many number of things e.g. no homework, disruption, refusal etc. If a Student does not turn up to detention they will automatically be given a Senior Staff Detention which is run by a senior member. This will take away one lunchbreak and it will also be counted as an after-school detention. If students fail to turn up at them, they could face internal suspension. There is a classroom at Burford commonly called 'D9' where teachers can send students if they are disrupting a class or refusing to do work or generally not behaving appropriately. D9 always has a teacher on duty and students are likely to receive a Senior Staff Dentention for being sent there.

Famous quotes containing the word punishments:

If the child knows the rewards and punishments in advance and knows that his parents will stick to them, the parents can actually empathize with the child’s plight while, at the same time, creating a firm sense of structure.... Your child will sense your resolve and your empathywhether you do this with words or just a sense of warmth.
    Stanley I. Greenspan (20th century)

Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds. Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand; to execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people; to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron; to execute upon them the judgment written.
    Bible: Hebrew Psalms 149:5-9.

Not only do I disbelieve in the need for compensation, but I believe that the seeking for rewards and punishments out of this life leads men to a ruinous ignorance of the fact that their inevitable rewards and punishments are here.
    Thomas Henry Huxley (1825–95)
